I had no idea how disconnected I was with myself, until I started practicing yoga. I would get these tiny glimpses while I practiced. It felt like I was uncovering this sacred space that was within me, and that I could be a better daughter, friend, partner, and overall human after class. Over the last 16 years I have felt awareness quietly flowing in. It started from the outside - my limbs. It moved into my breath. Then into my mind, and then to the more subtle aspects of energy and spirit. My yoga practice is deeply connected to how I choose to live my life every day.
Who or what inspires you?
The warm sun on my skin. That feeling when you jump into water. Trees blowing in the wind. Seeds. My kitty’s rumbling purr. The space between my inhale and exhale. My husbands eye color in both my boys. Feathers. Being still. Animals. Bodies of water. Dancing. Dogs….dancing dogs = even better ;)The strength and beauty of the human spirit. My teacher Lakshmi Norwood. Patanjali’s yoga sutras.
Three adjectives that describe you and your teaching style:
Open. Creative. Deep
Where are you the most fearlessly authentic in your life?
When I am uncomfortable, whether it is physical or emotional..instead of pushing it away..I am learning to lean in and observe without judgement. When I am outside of my comfort zone, I learn and grow the most.
What is something not a lot of people know about you?
I love pie..everything about it…eating it…making it…thinking about making it… smelling it….a bonus to practicing yoga is that I can eat more pie :)
